The electronic library is created to provide the literature in the field of the main scientific activity of the Laboratory that is studies in history and theory of the ancient church music, and history of Ukrainian sacred music. The priority is defined by the theme of liturgical singing in the Greek-Byzantine rite (sacred monody), and catholic rite (Gregorian chant), as well as singing of the Southern Slavs, in Kyivan Rus, and early modern Ukraine. Chosen literature covers research concerning notation history (musical paleography), musical, poetic, and metro-rhythmic analysis of sacred music, liturgical texts (hymnography), genres and forms of liturgical singing, and also para-liturgical genres, etc.

The main purpose of creation of this e-library is to facilitate students, learning Ukrainian musical art and literature, with the simple and free access to the thematic scientific papers and sources. Chosen articles are shared on the open on-line platforms, or here with the authors’ consent. This collection should be used for scientific research and educational purpose.
